ISPA: Internet Service Providers Association

The Internet Services Providers' Association (ISPA UK) is the UK's Trade Association for providers of Internet services. ISPA UK was established in 1995 and promotes competition, self-regulation and the development of the Internet industry. Brightfilter have been actively involved with ISPA and recently sponsored the ISPA Parliamentary Advisory Forum.

IWF: Internet Watch Foundation

In partnership with many organisations the IWF strive to create continued awareness of the role and purpose of the IWF and aim to foster trust and reassurance in the internet for current and future users. It is IWF?s role to provide the CAIC URL list when requested for ISPs to provide a blocking solution. The Brightfilter solution incorporates this list which is embedded into the service and cannot be bypassed whilst Brightfilter is in operation.

CIPA: Children's Internet Protection Act

The Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA) is a US federal law enacted by Congress in December 2000 to address concerns about access to offensive content over the Internet on school and library computers. CIPA imposes certain types of requirements on any school or library that receives funding support for Internet access or internal connections from the E-rate program - a program that makes certain technology more affordable for eligible schools and libraries. In early 2001, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued rules implementing CIPA. The Brightfilter database is CIPA compliant.

The Brightfilter filtering service uses data provided by the Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG). The APWG is the global pan-industrial and law enforcement association focused on eliminating the fraud and identity theft that result from phishing, pharming and email spoofing of all types.
